Zimbabwe is one of the most remarkable countries in Africa with its abundance of natural wonders, welcoming locals, fascinating heritage and good climate.
The jewel in its glittering crown is Victoria Falls. Straddling the border between Zimbabwe and neighboring Zambia, this waterfall is officially the largest on the planet and hearing the roar of cascading water makes for an unforgettable experience.
Victoria Falls is also the adventure capital of Zimbabwe. The raging rapids of the Zambezi river provide some of the world’s best white water rafting whilst the old railway bridge gives thrill seekers the opportunity to bungee jump or swing above the cauldron below. A flight above the falls in a helicopter or micro light will give a birds eye view of one of the worlds seven natural wonders. Sip cocktails as you cruise the waters above the falls as the sun sets on another glorious day in Africa.
In addition to being an awe-inspiring natural spectacle, Zimbabwe also offers some of the best wildlife viewing in Southern Africa. From the forested mountains of the eastern highlands, to the sun washed grasslands of Hwange National Park, the country is teeming with flora and fauna.
The astonishing late iron age stone ruins of Great Zimbabwe offer an insight into ages past whilst the granite koppies of the Matopas enchant with their mystical air. The string of mountains and the lush countryside in the eastern highlands are particularly sought after by walkers and trekkers. Climbing the highest Mountain, Mount Nyangani, takes around an hour and a half, and the views from the top are well worth the effort!
Situated in the northwest and sharing a border with Zambia, Lake Kariba is the world’s largest man made dam. Both the game and unforgettable sunsets can be enjoyed from various lodges or a well-appointed house boat.
